The Ministry of Higher Education and the Cuban universities convene the 12th. International Congress of Higher Education University 2020, under the theme "The University and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".

Universities, as historical and heritage institutions, are committed from their own essences to the sustainable development of humanity. Only with this vision is it possible to interpret the social, scientific and extension relevance of our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The International Congress of Higher Education University 2020 will be enriched by the experience of researchers discussing the Sustainable Development Goals, based on topics derived from this Agenda.

We invite them to discuss, among other topics, the contribution of substantive university processes to the Goals, their integration into university training and teaching, the creation of a global citizenship around the SDGs, the integration of the Agenda 2030 in sector strategies and policies and cooperation initiatives for sustainable development. Our event will also be a space for concentration and follow-up of the declaration and action plan of the Regional Conference on Higher Education for Latin America and the Caribbean CRES 2018.

Students, teachers and managers of the institutions of Higher Education will meet in Havana from February 10 to 14, 2020, in a relevant, pleasant and inclusive appointment.

REGISTRATION

DELEGATES AND STUDENTS

The registration fee for delegates and students includes: accreditation module (credential, bag, event memoirs with ISBN, pen, academic program and information on the congress and diploma of participant), attendance at the academic activities of the congress, specialized visits, official opening and closing activities, cultural gala and farewell activity.

STUDENTS

In order to pay the tuition corresponding to the student, an official letter must be presented from a university certifying that the bearer is an undergraduate student. If you fail to prove your status, you must complete the payment as a delegate.

Delegates and students must wear their badge at all times to access the activities.

All the fees here are presented in the Cuban Peso Convertible (CUC), the official currency in Cuba, which exchange rate correspond to approximately to 1.00 CUC for US $ 1.00 if payment is made in the US, via INVICTA Group Services. All hotel fees must be paid in advance before congress.

The Organizing Committee of the 12th International Congress of Higher Education "University 2020", is pleased to invite you to participate in the ASSOCIATED EXPOSURE that will take place in the framework of this event at the Convention Palace of Havana, between the 10th and the 14th of February 2020, under the slogan "The University and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".

The EXPO continues to consolidate as the ideal space to showcase the achievements of higher education, as well as the results of scientific research and innovation in all its fields. Conceived as a meeting place between exhibitors and congress attendees, participants will have the opportunity to sustain fruitful exchanges of experiences, establish cooperative links and articulate business meetings mutually beneficial.

As has happened in previous editions, the EXPO will include the exhibition of academic centers, research centers and institutions and companies related to higher education.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS

CUBA´S CUSTOMS RULES

In order to enter into and departure from Cuba, an individual will be needed a six-month validity Passport, tourist card or visa and a round-trip ticket. Upon arriving in Cuba, José Martí´s airport immigration officials will request passport, round-trip ticket and tourist card or visa.

TOURIST CARD OR VISA

It is mandatory to hold a tourist card or visa to enter into Cuba. Upon buying your round-trip ticket, you must request the travel agency or the Cuban diplomatic representation based in your country the tourist card or visa in order to enter into Cuba. Visa for Cuba is valid for 30 days. Whether your stay in the Caribbean Island exceeded the respective 30 days, you should renew your tourist card or visa. This legal procedure must be carried out at the available immigration offices of Cuban provinces´ capitals and must meet the following: a prior CUC tax payment in stamps which are available to buy at Metropolitan Bank branches.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

The Cuban government demands a Medical Travel Insurance covered by Medical Expenditures and valid for the whole stay period. All those paeople who are interested in travelling to Cuba are obliged to provide a Medical Insurance covering all medical expenditures in case of either a disease or accident.

OFFICIAL CURRENCY

The Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC) is the official circulating currency in Cuba. It can be obtained upon arriving the country, at the airport, hotels, Banks and currency exchange offices (Cadecas). The exchangeable international currencies are: Euro, US and Canadian dollar, Sterling Pound, Swiss Francs, Mexican Pesos and Japanese Yen, in accordance with the current exchange rate.

CREDIT CARDS

You can also use credit cards as VISA, MASTERCARD and CABAL, as long as they are not drawn from a U.S. bank.

SAFETY

Cuba is a very safe nation.

WEATHER

Cuba has a moderate sub-tropical weather. Havana and the western provinces have a chillier and nicer weather than in the Eastern region.

DRESSING CODE

It is advisable to wear cotton-made clothes.

ELECTRIC POWER

The electric current generally works to 110 V/60 Hz.
