The International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organisation (IPWSO) is delighted to invite delegates from around the world to attend our 10th international conference. Featuring a selection of high profile keynote speakers and new research and best practice in care, delegates will learn about the latest developments in the care, treatment and management of PWS.

 

Our conference is a multi-disciplinary event which will bring together scientists, doctors, care providers, people with PWS and their families and carers to share expertise and experiences and celebrate our international PWS community.

The 10th International conference of the International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organisation will take place in 2019 in Havana, Cuba. The local hosts for the event are the Cuban Society of Human Genetics (SOCUGEN).

ALL US PAYMENTS

All the fees here are presented in the Cuban Peso Convertible (CUC), the official currency in Cuba, which exchange rate correspond to approximately to 1.00 CUC for US $ 1.00 if payment is made in the US, via  INVICTA Group Services. All hotel fees must be paid in advance before congress. 

 

Those people interested in paying all registration fees in Cuba, must make it at the right moment of the registration at the Havana International Conference Center, by using the official circulating currency in Cuba 1.00 CUC for US$ 0, 8685.

The call for abstracts has now closed for the Clinical and Scientific conference and the Professional Providers’ and Caregivers’ conference. Thank you for your submissions, we have now responded to everyone.

The conference will be made up of four strands. Delegates are welcome at any session, please see the following information to decide which parts of the conference are most relevant to you:

Afternoon of Wednesday 13 November – roundtable on gonadal function, puberty, sexuality and fertility in people with PWS – open to all (select to attend when registering).

This meeting brings together clinicians and research scientists from around the world to present, discuss and critically evaluate recent research findings in order to advance understanding of PWS and develop new and effective interventions. This is the only opportunity that clinicians and researchers actively working in the field have to do this. Key findings from this conference will also be presented to the Parents’ meeting.

Presentations and discussions will be in English.

PROFESSIONAL PROVIDERS’ AND CAREGIVERS’ PROGRAM

Professional Providers’ and Carers’ Program FINAL

This meeting brings together clinicians and research scientists from around the world to present, discuss and critically evaluate recent research findings in order to advance understanding of PWS and develop new and effective interventions. This is the only opportunity that clinicians and researchers actively working in the field have to do this. Key findings from this conference will also be presented to the Parents’ meeting.

Presentations and discussions will be in English.

PARENTS PROGRAM

Parents' Program FINAL

​

This meeting provides an opportunity for families to meet with each other and to share experiences and ideas from around the world. The meeting also provides the opportunity to hear from clinicians and scientists, who will have taken part in the Clinical and Scientific Conference, about recent advances in our understanding of PWS and best practice with respect to interventions and support.

​

The main language will be English. We intend to provide English to Spanish and Spanish to English simultaneous translation.

ACTIVITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH PWS AND THEIR FAMILIES

TIPWSO is working closely with our host country to provide support for people with PWS who come with their families or with others to attend the conference. We anticipate that the main languages for the family activities will be English and Spanish. It is expected that a family member or support worker remains with the person with PWS so that someone familiar is with them throughout the daily programs.

 

Every effort is made to provide food security. The program will include activities such as sports activities, crafts, movie sessions, games and dancing.

CUBA´S CUSTOMS RULES

In order to enter into and departure from Cuba, an individual will be needed a six-month validity Passport, tourist card or visa and a round-trip ticket. Upon arriving in Cuba, José Martí´s airport immigration officials will request passport, round-trip ticket and tourist card or visa.

 

 

TOURIST CARD OR VISA

It is mandatory to hold a tourist card or visa to enter into Cuba. Upon buying your round-trip ticket, you must request the travel agency or the Cuban diplomatic representation based in your country the tourist card or visa in order to enter into Cuba. Visa for Cuba is valid for 30 days. Whether your stay in the Caribbean Island exceeded the respective 30 days, you should renew your tourist card or visa. This legal procedure must be carried out at the available immigration offices of Cuban provinces´ capitals and must meet the following: a prior CUC tax payment in stamps which are available to buy at Metropolitan Bank branches.

 

 

MEDICAL INSURANCE

The Cuban government demands a Medical Travel Insurance covered by Medical Expenditures and valid for the whole stay period. All those paeople who are interested in travelling to Cuba are obliged to provide a Medical Insurance covering all medical expenditures in case of either a disease or accident.

 

 

OFFICIAL CURRENCY

The Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC) is the official circulating currency in Cuba. It can be obtained upon arriving the country, at the airport, hotels, Banks and currency exchange offices (Cadecas). The exchangeable international currencies are: Euro, US and Canadian dollar, Sterling Pound, Swiss Francs, Mexican Pesos and Japanese Yen, in accordance with the current exchange rate.

 

 

CREDIT CARDS 

You can also use credit cards as VISA, MASTERCARD and CABAL, as long as they are not drawn from a U.S. bank.

 

 

SAFETY 

Cuba is a very safe nation.

 

 

WEATHER          

Cuba has a moderate sub-tropical weather. Havana and the western provinces have a chillier and nicer weather than in the Eastern region.

 

 

DRESSING CODE

It is advisable to wear cotton-made clothes.

The electric current generally works to 110 V/60 Hz.
