All US Citizens and US Residents can still travel legally to Cuba under the OFAC license category SUPPORT FOR THE CUBAN PEOPLE. As a traveler you are required to provide support for the Cuban people and promote independent activity intended to strengthen civil society in Cuba. The traveler is required to engage in "Support for the Cuban People" activities consistent with a full-time schedule.

Cuban Paladares

 Over two decades ago, the Cuban government allowed citizens to start opening their own private small seating restaurants and the locals nick named them paladares, after the name of a restaurant in a Brazilian soap opera that was playing on the state-run television channel at the time. Soon it became a success, and later more licenses were given by the State in order to privately operate these restaurants at a larger scale. Some of the most exciting and talented food of today in Cuba is being cooked at these local paladares, they complete globally and by seating at these the traveler is directly supporting Cuban entrepreneurs.
